‘Uit de klei getrokken’ is a Dutch saying to refer to the land we are born from, literally it means ‘Pulled out of the Clay’. ‘The Plaggenhut’ is a Dutch indigenous, self-built dwelling which actually looks like it is raised out of the clay.Built by land workers in the northern rural ‘peat’ regions in the 19th century, the ‘plaggenhut’ is an earth sheltered structure made with local, natural & reclaimed materials.

Adding today’s standards & technology, a bathroom, kitchen, dining area and a comfortable living room, the plaggenhut becomes ‘2.0’.

The addition of an outdoor garden brings the social for ‘Plaggenhut 3.0′ making it a natural, modern, efficient and multifunctional guesthouse, workshop & meeting space.
